Taixu is an exploration of the profound interconnectedness that defines our existence. Drawing inspiration from the Heart Sutra's teaching, this project delves into the non-dual nature of reality where the boundaries between the self and the universe dissolve.
In Taixu, I examine the intricate web of connections that link us to everything around us— from the iron in our blood, forged in the hearts of dying stars, to the air we breathe, shared with plants, animals, and fellow humans. Our bodies are cosmic artifacts, composed of the same elements that shape the earth and the sky, reflecting a unity that transcends individuality.
This work transcends mere observation; it is a meditation on the essence of being. By expanding the scope of interconnectedness to include not only the physical but also the metaphysical— from the collision of asteroids that seeded life on earth to the interplay of matter and anti-matter— Taixu seeks to reveal the ultimate truth: that in our connectedness, we are everything, and in being everything, we touch the profound state of zero or zero-ness.
Through visual narratives, I invite viewers to reflect on their place within this infinite network of relationships, where every form is a manifestation of emptiness, and every emptiness is pregnant with form. In this realization, we find that the distinctions between self and other, between one and many, fade into the background, leaving us with the profound understanding that we are the universe experiencing itself.
Taixu is not just a project; it is an invitation to transcend the illusion of separateness and embrace the infinite potential of interconnectedness, where each moment is a reflection of the whole and the whole is reflected in each moment.
